“Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up.”

-Pablo Picasso

WELCOME! Marissa’s Summer Art Camp offers a special opportunity for children aged 8 to 12 to explore their creativity and stay active as artists during the summer break. Over four days, they will learn new techniques, experiment with diverse artistic mediums, and create a small masterpiece to bring home each day. This hands-on learning experience takes place in a supportive and intimate group setting, nurturing their love for art.

Each day will start with a brief lesson, introducing the methods and materials, accompanied by a quick demonstration. We will then jump into the artmaking activity and continue learning through practice. The camp will introduce both traditional and contemporary approaches to art, including monoprint, collage, pastel, and paint. Students will receive individual guidance and support as they work, and all artistic styles will be embraced.

To ensure a conducive workspace, the class size is limited to four students. Friends and siblings are encouraged to join together, allowing kids to share the excitement through the camp. Enroll now and let their creativity shine at Marissa’s Summer Art Camp!

Day 1: Monoprint

Introduce the elements of design with a focus on LINE. Students experiment drawing interesting lines and then jump into making their very own Monoprint.

Day 2:

Collage

Review the elements of design with a focus on SHAPE. Students identify shapes used in artworks and then choose how they want to assemble their own collage.

Day 3: Pastel

Review the elements of design with a focus on VALUE and TEXTURE. Students learn basic light and shadow principles and then apply their new knowledge to a pastel still life drawing.

Day 4: Painting

Review the elements of design with a focus on COLOR. Students learn about different types of paint and then choose a color scheme to use in their own acrylic painting.

FAQ’s

Who can enroll?

Any child 8-12 years old who enjoys creating, works well in small groups, and wants to experiment with new mediums! Students should feel comfortable working independently without the aid of a parent present.

Can I enroll more than one child?

Yes! If they are in the age range of 8-12 years old, making art alongside friends or siblings can be more fun! Receive $20 off when you enroll two siblings (discount code offered at checkout). Class size is limited to 4 students.

What does the cost of the art camp include?

The total cost includes a 90-minute group art lesson over four days (Mon-Thurs). All supplies (paper, ink, paint, brushes, pastel, scissors, glue) are also included in the cost and your child will bring home a small masterpiece each day.

Where will the Summer Art Camp take place?

North Orem, Utah, at Marissa’s studio. Address will be sent after registration.

I would like to register my child, but they are not available on the weeks and/or times offered.

Reach out and let’s chat! If you can compile a group of 3-4 kids between 8-12 years old, then I’m happy to open another slot just for your group!

How should my child dress?

Students should wear clothes appropriate for creating art. Depending on the day, students will be using ink, glue, pastel, or paint. Students are encouraged bring an apron to wear over their clothing.
